AUDIENCE RESEARCH

Next week we are hosting a film viewing for a selective group of our target audience in order to help evaluate our opening.

Audience -
We have invited 12 males and females aged 16-18 because they are included in our target audience. Audience members are:

Abbi

Becky
Marcus

Questions -
The main questions we will be asking our audience will be about our:
soundtrack
genre
storyline
trailer or opening sequence
costumes
character

With these questions we hope to find out if each element in our opening is conventional and suitable for our genre of film opening which makes it successful or whether it challenges convential openings.

Format -
These questions will feature in a questionnaire which will be given to each of the audience members to fill out whilst they are watching our film opening. This questionnaire and the results will later feature on the blog as part of our audience research for our evaluation.

After several busy weeks of designing, storyboarding, filming, editing and a lot of hard work our final opening is complete.

Last Shoot

Today we are doing our final shoot. This is going to be the shoot of the ouija board. This is crucial for the plot to make sure that the audience is aware that the girl has been possed by the oija board.

Technical notes

A high angle of the ouija board Shot of the group laughing and then switching to a more serious mood as the abnormality of the the results of the ouija board start to doubt their previous judgments of the board. Hand held camera shots action reaction Single out one person to create intesity-character must be relatable to the audience or weak to have maximum verisimilitude to the horror genre.

Progress Update

Less than a week until deadline.

Today we did editing of our footage, to which we found may need more to add to the beginning of our movie openings.
We also created our montage and found our soundtrack to which suited our opening nicely.

The plan for the duration of the week is to finish editing and complete final touches to the opening.

Genre Research JR

I really like the beginning of this clip with the soft focus on the type writer and background. The focus is then primarily on the protagonist which gives a scary feel to the film. I thought we could do this for the looking at the Ouija board or the newspaper scene at beginning or end of the opening.
